Documents for a Trip to Lithuania From Ukraine in 2026: the Full List

Documents for traveling to Lithuania: the biometric passport

Heading to Lithuania — to family, for work, or on business? Here's what documents you need for a trip to Lithuania in 2026, so there are no surprises at the border.

The main news for first-time travelers: Ukrainian citizens don't need a visa for Lithuania. A biometric passport is enough — it gives you visa-free entry, and you can stay in Lithuania and other Schengen countries for up to 90 days.

Before your trip, check that your passport is valid and not about to expire. An old-style passport without a chip doesn't qualify for visa-free travel — you need a biometric one.

No separate documents are needed for transit through Poland: both Poland and Lithuania are part of the Schengen area, so the same visa-free rules apply.

90-day visa-free travel to Lithuania: how the 90/180 rule works

Visa-free travel isn't "90 days in a row, as many times as you like." The 90/180 rule applies: within any 180-day period, you can stay in the Schengen area for no more than 90 days total.

All days in all Schengen countries count together — Lithuania, Poland, anywhere else. So if you travel often, keep track of your days, for example with a free online Schengen calculator.

If you're planning to stay longer than visa-free travel allows, find out about legal grounds for staying from official Lithuanian sources in advance. Rules change — check before you travel.

Traveling abroad with a child: documents in 2026

A child needs their own passport, just like an adult. Also bring the birth certificate — it may be requested to confirm parentage.

If the child is traveling with one parent, a notarized consent from the other parent is usually required. There are exceptions, but each case is individual — it's best to check in advance.

So the basic document set for traveling abroad with a child looks like this:

  • the child's passport
  • birth certificate
  • notarized consent from the other parent — if the child travels with one parent
  • consent from both parents — if the child travels with relatives or an escort

Traveling with pets

To bring a cat or dog to Lithuania, the animal usually needs three things: a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination, and a European-format veterinary passport.

Requirements for transporting animals are updated periodically, so check the current rules before your trip. And be sure to tell the dispatcher you're traveling with a pet at the booking stage.

Men and crossing the border

Rules for men leaving Ukraine are governed by Ukrainian law and can change. We're a carrier, not lawyers, so we don't give advice on this matter.

Check the current rules for leaving the country with official sources — primarily the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. If you have grounds to travel, make sure all supporting documents are with you in original form.

Money, medicine and other details

Cash up to €10,000 per person can be carried without declaring it. If the amount is higher, it must be declared at the border.

Bring medication in quantities for personal use. For potent medications, have a doctor's prescription — you may be asked to show it.

A useful habit: make copies of all your documents and keep them separate from the originals, as well as on your phone. If something gets lost on the way, copies are a huge help.
