How to Send a Parcel to Lithuania From Ukraine: Methods and Tips

Published 11 June 2026 · AlexTransfer

What are the ways to send a parcel to Lithuania

There are more and more Ukrainians in Lithuania, so the question "how do I send a parcel to Lithuania" comes up sooner or later in almost every family. Someone needs to send documents, someone else warm clothes, medicine, or gifts from home.

There are essentially two options: international post (Ukrposhta, Nova Post) or a carrier who delivers the parcel hand to hand. Each option has its own logic — let's go through them one by one so you can choose what fits your situation.

Post or carrier: which to choose

Post is convenient when you're not in a hurry and you're sending ordinary items. The parcel passes through sorting centers, is dropped off and picked up at a branch, and the cost is usually based on weight.

A carrier works differently: the parcel is picked up from the sender's address and handed to the recipient in person. No branches, no queues, no intermediate warehouses — it travels in the same minibus as the passengers, door to door.

This format is especially handy when you need to send documents to Lithuania — a passport, power of attorney, certificates. Or something fragile or valuable that you don't want to trust to a conveyor belt.

  • hand-to-hand delivery, no warehouses or re-sorting;
  • the parcel is picked up from the sender's address and delivered to the recipient;
  • convenient for documents, medicine, and fragile items.

What you can and can't send

The parcel crosses the border together with the minibus, so EU customs rules apply to it. The most important restriction concerns food: meat and dairy products cannot be brought into the EU. The only exception is baby food, up to 2 kg.

Other food items can be sent for personal use — roughly up to €50–100 worth. Medicine is sent for personal use, and potent medications require a prescription.

Alcohol and tobacco have strict limits per adult: for example, 1 L of spirits or 2 L of wine, 2 packs of cigarettes. If you want to send any of these, check with the dispatcher first. Rules change, so confirm the current limits before sending.

  • meat and dairy — prohibited (except baby food up to 2 kg);
  • alcohol and tobacco — only within the limits, check with the dispatcher;
  • potent medication — prescription only.

How to pack a parcel properly

A sturdy box or a thick bag is the foundation. Wrap fragile items in several layers: clothing, towels or packing film work well as cushioning on the road.

Always label the parcel: the recipient's and sender's name and phone number. Put documents in a folder or envelope, then inside a thick bag — that way they arrive flat and dry.

Be ready to briefly describe what's inside: the driver needs to know what he's carrying, and the contents may be inspected at the border.

How parcel delivery works with AlexTransfer

AlexTransfer sends Mercedes Sprinter minibuses from Ukraine to Lithuania every day — and delivers parcels on those same trips. Routes: Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kyiv → Kaunas, Vilnius, Šiauliai, Klaipėda, transiting via Poland.

A parcel travels with the passengers, not sitting in a warehouse. Two drivers work each trip, so the minibus moves without overnight stops.

The process is simple and takes a few minutes of your time:

  • Message us on Viber or Telegram — agree on the date, contents and addresses.
  • The driver picks up the parcel from your address in Ukraine.
  • The recipient in Lithuania gets it in person.

How long it takes and how much it costs

The trip from Ukraine to Lithuania usually takes a day to a day and a half. The exact time depends mainly on the border queues, so no one can honestly guarantee a same-day delivery.

Confirm the cost of sending a parcel with the dispatcher: tell them what you're sending and on which route, and they'll calculate the price right away.
